Culture Night is a family friendly event with a range of activities people of all ages can enjoy. Towns and cities across Ireland will be holding their own Culture Nights, playing host to an amazing range of free arts events open to everyone. The idea is to show that culture is for everyone, with all communities welcomed to join in the craic!

Little Legends Reading Room (Derry)
Time: 4.30 - 5.30pm
Little Legends is a family fun event bringing stories from across the world to life in a fun and exciting way. Little Legends uses three large scale characters to engage with families and a younger audience. Come join us and meet Amelia, Oaksey and Professor Magee and enjoy the story we have selected.
Once a Railroad (Derry)
Time: 6 - 9pm
Gregory McCartney and Mara Cavalla present an idiosyncratic poetic/film psycho-history/geography of growing up in Derry using the decline of current and former railway lines as a basis for musings on self, history, politics, contradiction and confusion.
Laughter Yoga (Derry)
Time: 6.45 - 7.30pm
A powerful workshop that will leave you feeling amazing! This will be a fun and energetic session of Laughter Yoga to help release endorphins, reduce stress and connect people. The session will involve deep breathing exercises, gentle movement, simulated laughter and deep relaxation.
Global Storytelling Through Dance (Derry)
Time: 7 - 8.30pm
Come along and take part in an introductory session of African and international dance ised to help illustrate stories and tales from across the world, promising a great atmosphere and fun!
Reading Rooms Flash Fiction (Derry)
Time: 7.30 - 9.30pm
Drop in to an evening of shared reading and reading aloud. The Verbal Arts Centre will host a drop in session of storytelling through our award winning Reading Rooms Programme. During these sessions, visitors will be able to listen and share with others your thoughts on the selected poetry and prose whilst challenge, supported and enthused by the facilitator.
Classic Film Screening – ‘Fahrenheit 451’ (Derry)
Time: 8 - 10pm
This classic dystopian tale hasn’t lost any of its relevance. Based on Ray Bradbury’s novel, it is set in a totalitarian society where reading has been banned. The fire brigade, rather than extinguishing fires, specialises in burning books. The story follows Montag, a fireman, who becomes fascinated by the power of literature and soon stands up against the regime, joining an underground movement of book lovers.
Reading Rooms Mobile (Belfast)

Time: 2 - 9.30pm (30 min family sessions: 4:30pm, 5pm, 5:30pm, 6pm / reading for adults: 7pm, 8pm, 9pm)

Enjoy an evening of shared reading, exploring travel tales from Belfast and beyond through stories and poems read aloud together.
